The Inner Warrior is an entity that lives within some of us. To some this is alien, they don’t understand, and never will. For those who possess this phenomenon deals with an overwhelming force that has an appetite of ten normal men.
Understanding the competitiveness of a warrior is impossible to those who don’t possess it. It is like asking what being a Vampire feels like, no human can know.
So in a sense we are spectators to this craziness. When you watch an MMA fight you are watching the finished product. You don’t see what happened before, the fighters in their time of weakness, nor do you understand the impact of a long career in fighting or the toll the body takes with this kind of lifestyle.
Chasing the fight has to do with a fighter not know when to hang up their gloves. It becomes an addiction. This addiction can take the form of either the money or the feeling to appease the inner warrior. In simple terms: to feel relevant.
We watch and wonder, or don’t. It doesn’t matter to some. But the reality is instructive.

Episode 9: When is MMA abusive? A Self Defense Critique
The grey area is where much of reality exists, at least for me.
For me to understand something I have to chew on it before I swallow. I need to get down to the roots of the issue. And go through a process of playing “devils advocate”. This is a formula I use when trying to understand something I read or watch. I have found this to be the best way for me to avoid my own natural bias.
A recent video has “broke the internet” showing a fight between two Junior High Kids. One of which is apparently bullying the other. When one of the kids is tired of the bullying behavior he initiates combat.
I say a fight then ensues only because they were both vying for position. But the reality is, this wasn’t a fight. A fight is a struggle between two people. That is not what I saw in this video.
This was an MMA trained student versus an untrained student. In the end the MMA representative fully outclassed the bully. I call this a Giant vs Ant scenario.
It is my position that this display, as dynamically pleasing to the eye as it was, was not necessary considering the level of danger I perceived in the video. In Episode 9 we discuss Self Defense and the power a trained individual possesses. And with power, comes great responsibility.
